Road Trip

For as long  as I can remember, summer has been synonymous with road trips. Yes, many people shudder at the very mention of  of those two words, but for me, a road trip is about both- the journey and the destination. Safety First

I was 18 when I first flew on a commercial airplane. It was also the first time I was exposed to terrorism in the air. It was 1984, and a bomb exploded in the baggage area  at Heathrow Airport. I was leaving for my high school senior trip, and we were to catch a connecting flight to Paris from there. I gave some thought to bailing , but I ultimately went and had an amazing time. Something needs to change. It took a few weeks of soul searching before I was able to put my finger on what exactly. By 8:30 Saturday morning,  I had donned my gardening gloves and was outside performing  the mundane task of moving mulch from point A to point B.
